Look Inside [Climate Change Explained]
Preface
There are many books on the subject of ‘Climate Change’, ‘Global Warming’, ’Killing the Planet’ and so on. Why then, yet another you may say?
This one explains the politics, the science and how it balances energy with living today and the future.
At the time of writing:
· Russia has invaded The Ukraine
· Global temperatures have gone higher than ever previously recorded.
· Energy costs have risen dramatically, and continue to rise
· Massive forest fires on every continent
· A shortage of rainfall globally
News reports on TV, and in the Press provide local, regional and global information on a scale not previously possible. But what does it all mean? Is it biased? Are we being fed ‘non-information’ classically reported as ‘disinformation?
Politicians technically are people who have been put forward by the population to look after their interests. Look back in history (“Oh no, here he goes!”), yes but today will be history tomorrow.
You were born. You had no say in the matter. You needed food, water and shelter. Your parents lived with other people, a tribe. Over the centuries the tribes had cleared land close to drinkingwater. Some tribes lived near the coast or large rivers and their diet included fish and seafoods etc. You know the rest……....
So what has that to do with Climate Change?
The topic returns to the headlines when other news is relatively quiet. The media describes the situation as; ‘global warming’ and more recently ‘climate change’. The headlines tend to concentrate on ‘ice caps melting, and sea levels rising’. Followed by ‘greenhouse gas emissions have got to be lowered’.
When there are world conferences, the topic is back as headlines.
The United Nations are currently heralding another Climate Change Conference – COP 27 – November 2022. On their Web page they report that their conferences ‘have grown exponentially in size over the past two decades’ – ‘and are now among the largest international meetings in the world’.
But what exactly do the conferences achieve? Is it ‘re-arranging the chairs on the Titanic’ syndrome?
This book looks at the subject of Climate Change from a technical and scientific standpoint with a background of the politics involved.
Laws are only for the law abiding people. For those who do not want to comply the laws are often pointless. Who’s laws apply? One country may have different laws to another. Even different States can have different laws.
Different religions have different rules, laws and beliefs. Different needs for different people even in the same country.Someone who has a large surplus of wealth living in the same country as a person fighting just to survive.
India is a classic example of the extremely wealthy living in the same country as others struggling to stay alive.
How can all the different countries agree to reduce CO2 and the equivalent greenhouse gases?
We will be looking at the many underlying political issues that have to be addressed.
In addition to the politics there are many technical issues. Are the schemes actually workable? Or just dreams?
We will be looking at the science of energy. Based on actual science it enables an insight into why the amount of greenhouse gases will continue to grow.
It isn’t all ‘doom and gloom’ though.
